Surveillance to detect unidentified vessels, potential inspection targets
SeaSurveillance is a surveillance system that integrates SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images captured via Copernicus satellites and other sources.
SeaSurveillance correlates the images captured with the vessels already identified in the control center through VMS, AIS and other systems, allowing the detection of unidentified vessels that may be subject to inspection by the authorities, simplifying the task of detecting Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing activity.
The use of SAR images has the advantage of not being dependent on weather conditions, thus images of vessels being captured even in adverse conditions.
