Andromeda Project presented in FID2018
Andromeda is a technology research and development project involving unmanned and manned aerial vehicles and vessels for coastal surveillance missions
The Andromeda Project will be presented at the first edition of the Forum Innovation and Defense Forum 2018, to be held on May 16, 2018, in the Auditorium of the Military Academy, Amadora – Portugal.
FID2018, organized by CINAMIL – Center for Research, Development and Innovation of the Military Academy, the DGRDN, Directorate General of National Defense Resources, IDD – Platform of National Defense Industries and EME – Army General Staff, will feature several panels of speakers, and will focus on Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) in the Defense area.
The purpose of this event is to deepen the visibility of the R&D Defense opportunities, informing and highlighting R&D success stories, to foster cooperation between the Armed Forces Research Centers, the National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN), and the Defense Technological and Industrial Base (BTID), by sharing R&D challenges in Defense with potential partners.
The Andromeda Project, carried out in partnership with the Portuguese Navy (through the Naval Research Center), the Portuguese Air Force (through the Center for Research, Development and Innovation of the Air Force), Xsealence – Sea Technologies and INOV Inesc innovation, is funded by the Government of Portugal through the Directorate General of National Defense Resources.
The participation of the Andromeda Project in FID 2018 is a perfect opportunity to highlight its importance, as it will allow the availability of an innovative maritime surveillance system that ensures and improves operational interoperability between the Navy / Maritime Authority, the Air Force and other national and international actors, giving the authorities the ability to share increased situational awareness, vigilance and missions.
