SeaITall Project State-of-the-art presentation in Mafra
Xsealence, one of the foremost technological companies in solutions for fishing vessels monitoring and control, has presented the state-of-the-art of the SEAITALL innovation project in Mafra – Portugal.
The project’s goal is to contribute to Xsealence´s leading integrated vessel monitoring solutions framework, including fishing control centers and port infrastructures to enhance the interoperability of monitoring, control and surveillance solutions. Among other innovations this project includes the test of new communications modules and the development of intelligent automatic detection systems based on patronized behavior analysis that will enable to remotely determine the type of fishing gear used and fishing operations carried out in a fishing trip.
Due to the fact that an important percentage of fishing captures are done by artisanal fishing vessels, Xsealence has developed, on the framework of the SeaITall project, a new on board equipment to fulfil their needs. The new Monicap artisanal VMS equipment has a reliable communications system, internal long life battery and water resistant protection.
Real time automatic detection and identification of vessels traffic in the ports has become also a critical factor in order to control fishing activities. The use of cameras installed at the port, integrated with the control center, allow automatic detection, identification and registration of vessels entering or leaving port.
In cooperation with Xsealence, participants in the SeaITall project include Inov Inesc Inovação, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, IPMA Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera and Tecnoveritas.
The project receives co-funding from P2020, the ongoing national Portuguese framework program.
